ICE Travellers cashcard
A great travel card.
Overall:The ICE Travellers cashcard MasterCard® comes in either Sterling (£), US Dollars ($) or in Euros (€) and is free to purchase. There are other fees but they are very simple to understand.
Good bits:
> No purchase fee.
The card and additional cards are free to purchase, and you can have up to four additional cards.
> Free top ups.
You can top up online for free once you have set up your account.
> Free to spend abroad.
Whichever card you pick, Sterling, Dollar or Euro, it is free to spend abroad.
Bad bits:
> Plan in advance.
It takes 28 days before the first top-up will be allowed on to your card, following your initial application. Also, when making a top-up via the website it takes 2 days for the money to be loaded into your account. So forward planning required!
> Negative balance charges.
You shouldn’t be able to go overdrawn with a prepay card, but if you do with the ICE card you will get charged for it: £5.00 for a Sterling cashcard, $5 for the Dollar cashcard and €5 for the Euro cashcard.
Standard bits:
> Everything is as most other prepay MasterCard’s.
As you’d expect, everything is the same as other standard prepay MasterCard’s. The ICE card is great as a travel card but isn’t recommended to be used as your day-to-day card.
Best card for you if:
- You are going away for a holiday in a month or so.
